Cookies

Cookies refer to small text files employed to store minor fragments of information. These files are stored on your device when you load the website on your browser. Their purpose is to enhance website functionality, bolster security, optimise user experience, and facilitate performance analysis, enabling us to discern effective practices and areas for improvement.

By using this website, you agree to our use of cookies, which collect information to enhance your browsing experience.

How We Utilise Cookies

  • Like the majority of online services, our website employs both first-party and third-party cookies for various purposes. First-party cookies are largely essential for seamless website operation, and they do not gather any personally identifiable data.
  • The third-party cookies used on our website predominantly serve to assess website performance, user interactions, ensure service security, deliver pertinent advertisements, and overall, provide an enhanced and refined user experience that expedites future interactions with our site.

Our website’s cookies are categorised as follows:

  • While you can adjust your browser to block or notify you about these cookies, certain parts of the site may then be non-functional.

Performance Cookies

  • Performance cookies empower us to tally visits and traffic origins, enabling us to gauge and enhance our site’s performance. They aid in identifying the most and least popular pages and tracking visitor movement. These cookies may collect IP addresses and create a random unique identifier for evaluating how frequently a visitor revisits the same site. By not permitting these cookies, we will remain unaware of your site visits and unable to monitor its performance.

Functional Cookies

  • These cookies augment website functionality and personalization. They might be activated by us or third-party providers whose services we’ve incorporated into our pages. Such cookies abstain from storing any personally identifiable data.

Targeting Cookies

  • Our advertising partners may set these cookies through our site to exhibit relevant adverts. These cookies and personalised ads do not disclose user identities.

  • At Abbott Immigration Services, we aim to provide exceptional legal guidance that is both efficient and cost-effective. Upon engaging our services, we will provide a clear and detailed estimate of potential costs as outlined in our engagement agreement. Please note that, in accordance with regulations, we cannot calculate fees based on a percentage or proportion of any settlement or award in dispute-related matters.
  • While the information shared on this website is intended to offer general insights, it should not be interpreted as comprehensive legal advice or relied upon as the basis for decision-making without further consultation.

If you decide to work with us, a formal engagement letter will detail your rights and our data handling practices.

Terms and Conditions

  • Abbott Immigration Services (Abbott) is a professional consultancy firm specializing in expert legal and procedural advice. These terms outline the standard provisions for our services; however, the specifics of your engagement will be addressed in a dedicated agreement tailored to your case.
  • To ensure transparency and minimize misunderstandings, we encourage you to carefully review the following terms. Should you have any questions, our team is available to provide clarification.

Scope of Services

  • We are committed to understanding your objectives and providing a realistic assessment of their feasibility. Throughout the process, we will keep you informed and explain any legal procedures that may arise.
  • To facilitate the best outcomes, your cooperation is essential. This includes:
  • Providing clear and accurate instructions.
  • Sharing all relevant facts regarding your case.
  • Informing us of any new developments or time-sensitive matters.
  • Responding promptly to our queries and requests.
  • Being available for meetings or proceedings as required.
  • If your requirements extend beyond the scope of the initial engagement, we will issue a new agreement detailing any additional terms, fees, and services.

Customer Due Diligence (CDD)

  • In compliance with anti-money laundering regulations, we are required to verify your identity and establish the source of any funds involved in your matter. This process involves submitting identification and verification documents.
  • Failure to provide the requested information may prevent us from continuing to act on your behalf. Should we suspect any unlawful activity, we are legally obligated to report this to the relevant authorities, including An Garda Síochána and the Revenue Commissioners, without prior notification to you in most cases.

Third-Party Costs

  • Before making payments on your behalf, we require cleared funds to be transferred to us directly. Payments by cheque must be submitted at least seven working days before the payment date. Where external services such as barristers, expert witnesses, or other professionals are required, we will inform you of their anticipated fees beforehand and proceed only with your approval.

Timeframes and Completion

  • While we strive to complete all matters efficiently, it is important to note that precise timelines may not always be possible due to the nature of legal work. Timely responses from you and other parties involved are crucial for avoiding delays.

Litigation Costs

  • If you decide to withdraw or discontinue a case after work has commenced, you may still be liable for our costs and any reasonable legal costs incurred by other parties. Additionally, you may be required to pay the legal costs of other parties as directed by the court or as part of a settlement agreement.

File Retention and Access

  • After completing your case and receiving payment, you are entitled to request your original file. However, we may retain copies in accordance with professional regulations. Files are typically stored for a minimum of six years before secure destruction. Requests for file retrieval or copies may incur a processing fee, which will be communicated at the time of the request. Please note that files are primarily stored electronically, and by engaging our services, you agree to this format.
  • Until all outstanding fees are paid, we reserve the right to retain your file as security.

File Transfer

  • Should you choose to transfer your case to another firm, we will provide all necessary documents up to the point of transfer, provided that any outstanding fees for work completed are settled.

Data Protection and Privacy

  • Abbott Immigration Services is committed to safeguarding your personal data. As the data controller, we employ stringent security measures to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or misuse of your information.
  • We may share your data with third-party service providers where necessary to deliver legal services. Personal data will only be retained for as long as required to fulfil our obligations to you. If you believe your data has been mishandled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (info@dataprotection.ie).
